Heritage Open Days

GMDT has coordinated and supported the annual Heritage Open Days in and around Morpeth for several years, with a steadily growing programme of activities, tours and events. In Septembe 2016, there are over 20 programme items over the four days - as well as old favourites like tours of the Mayor's Parlour and old Council Chamber in the Town Hall, the Clock Tower, there are also activities further afield with Newbiggin Rocket House and Creswell Pele Tower as well as no less than six churches open for viewing. In addition Vera Vaggs is givinbg the Collingwood Society Lecture, and the inimitable Barry Mead will be give a talk on life in Newminster Abbey in medieval times.

An annual free family day with support from Morpeth Town Council, Northumberland County Council, The Morpeth Lions and Morpeth Churches Together.
